====== Notes about proper use of Internet devices on my home network and also yours ====== * Windows is banned. Well, recent versions of Windows. XP and older are still okay. For fun. * Wear a condom. * Android 9+? Wear a condom over the entire system and use DNS over TLS. It's under //Settings// -> //Network & Internet// -> //Private DNS//. * Sebsauvage has a fairly comprehensive list on his wiki, pick a good one with the 👿💵 icons in the //Filtres// column (those with AdBlock), avoid those with 👮‍♂️ or outright crossed out (may lie), and use the address in the //DOT (Android)// column. * Older Android devices, or iOS? There's Blokada, although I don't have that sort of device. Did the job fairly well back in the days before Android supported DoT. * You can also try to change the DNS in the network settings but that's more of a pain, and has to be configured separately for every network you use. * Even on a desktop, use an alternate DNS resolver whenever possible. May be faster (somehow), offer more features, and is more likely to tell the truth. Again, check Sebsauvage's list, although AdBlock isn't necessary if you use one on your browser, as ads are usually confined to the browser. (If they aren't, either something has gone wrong or you're using Windows, which is banned.) * Feel free to ask for the wifi password. Shoulda print the QR code and put it somewhere visible, but I don't really have a lot of visitors.
